Todayโ€™s entry:ย In a prior story, you provided an estimated number of criminal illegals in Florida being rereleased. Is there more specific information available for South Florida so weย have an idea of whatโ€™s happeningย here?ย

Bottom Line:ย Inย Fridayโ€™s Q&A,ย I brought you the information that under President Bidenโ€™s executive orders, ICEโ€™s abilityย to issue detainer requestsย had been dramatically reduced. Specifically, a minimum of 75% fewer criminal illegal immigrants that were being detainedย to be deported after serving their time in Floridaโ€™s jails since Biden became President.ย

Yes, thereโ€™s more specific information availableย with which we can estimate the real-time impact in Southย Florida.ย The most recent year we have complete local information for is 2019โ€™s fiscal year.

In 2019 there wereย 10,012ย ICE detainers issued in Floridaย for the purpose of detaining criminal illegal immigrants uponย completing their prison sentence to be processed for deportation.ย With a minimum of 75%, fewer detainers being issued had President Bidenโ€™s policy been in place, there would have been a minimum of 7,509ย additionalย criminal illegal immigrants released in Florida.

As for South Florida,ย in Broward, there wereย 525, in Miami-Dade1,647, and in Palm Beachย 764. The Tri-County accounts for just over 29% of the stateโ€™s detainer requests.ย Now, had the Biden policy been in place in 2019, a minimum of 3,915 criminal illegal immigrants would have been released in South Florida.ย

I commonly say while every election has consequences, itโ€™s often those closest to you that have the biggest impact on your daily life. The example of President Biden limiting the ability for ICE to issue detainer requests to remove criminal illegal immigrants from our communities is one of the exceptions. While South Floridaโ€™s communities have held the line when it comes to funding and supporting our police,ย weโ€™re helpless when thereโ€™s federal authority being used to undermineย safety in our communities in the name of anti-ICE radicals. This isย just another reminder that President Biden is radical. Not a moderate.ย

Each day I feature a listener question sent by one of these methods.ย
